The Government has just announced that the Workplace Charge Scheme, the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme and the On-street Residential Chargepoint Scheme will be extended for another year to end March 2021.

In order to continue to support the transition to electric vehicles, the Government has decided to extend the WCS and EVHS schemes for a further year to end March 2021.  However in order to spread the benefit for the same amount of money, they have decided to drop the benefit from £500 to £350.  Full details in as far as they are available can be accessed here.

For the EVHS scheme this will apply for all installations from 1st April.

For the WCS scheme this will apply to all voucher applications from 1st April.

This will continue to have a positive effect in the industry, however the bell is clearly tolling that the scheme will probably end on 31st March next year.

Our advice is that for people with a need to charge at home there is little that they can do other than to arrange installation as soon as they have a car on order.

For workplace charging requirements, the answer seems to be to get voucher applications in by the end of March in order to secure the full financial benefit.
